Outpost Visits NAD In Montréal For Student Presentation

29 March 2019

Our Montréal team hit the road for the very first time

We were delighted to be invited to NAD for the afternoon to chat to students about who we are, what we hope to achieve in Montréal and what we look for in junior artists.

Our Head of Production for North America, Becca Scott, and VFX Supervisor James Rustad went along on 25 March to present to a group of visual effects students, in our first Canadian university talk following the launch of our Montréal studio in early 2019.

James and Becca shared insight into different paths into VFX and behind the scenes breakdown footage from 47 Meters Down and The ABC Murders, as well as our recent holiday commercial for LEGO.

As well as chatting about our culture and VFX projects we’ve worked on across film, TV and commercials, James also went through a host of key showreel tips for junior artists to help them stand out when they start to look for studio jobs after graduating.

The talk at NAD follows the recent announcement that Becca will serve as a judge for this year’s edition of The Rookies, an international art and design competition formerly known as the CG Student Awards.

If you fancy a closer look at what we get up to when we’re out and about, come and visit us on Twitter, Facebook, LinkedIn and Instagram.
