The new members of the Outpost team adds tremendous expertise alongside our Head of 3D Maurizio Giglioli and Head of VFX Andy Morley.
We’re excited to have boosted our Creatures team in both our Bournemouth and Montreal studios with the addition of Filip Sustek, DFX Supervisor; Elena Chiarani, Lead Groom Artist; Nick Varga, Senior Texture Artist and Craig Tonks, Senior FX TD.
Filip is an exceptional DFX Supervisor, having previously been Compositing Supervisor on Blade Runner 2049, which pushed the envelope on digital human performance. He also led Compositing on the creature-heavy Fantastic Beasts and Where To Find Them: The Crimes of Grindelwald, where he worked on hero creatures including the House Elves, Niffler and Zowu.
Over in Bournemouth, Elena is an astounding Annie Award-nominated Lead Groom Artist. She studied Fine Arts in Milan prior to working as CG Generalist and focusing on crowd simulation for films including Early Man, later working on Shaun the Sheep: Farmageddon before specialising in Groom. Recently she lent her groom expertise to the production of upcoming film Call of the Wild.
Nick’s illustrious career in VFX has seen him work on titles such as Fast and the Furious 3, Source Code, Elysium, Percy Jackson, Jupiter Ascending before eventually leading the texture work on Rocket for Guardians of the Galaxy. He was also responsible for Ready Player One’s I-Rok, King Kong and more as well as the Abu elephant in Aladdin prior to coming to Outpost.
Craig’s incredible FX experience has led to a career in film that has encompassed a diverse range of styles, including leading the abstract work on Interstellar as well as creating high-quality creepy creatures for A Cure For Wellness. Most recently Craig completed some of his most high-profile work yet creating fur simulation tools and workflows for Disney’s The Lion King and looks forward to pushing the quality of creatures higher with each project.
Outpost VFX has recently delivered work on Black Mirror Season 5, Curfew and The ABC Murders with a slate of high-end projects in production including Catherine The Great, Watchmen, The Informer, Summerland, Hobbs & Shaw and 47 Meters Down: Uncaged.
