Andy Williams will moderate the SparkFX 2021 panel on the future of virtual production and its implications for the wider VFX industry
The panel, which will be streamed live during Spark FX 2021's Real-Time Summit on Friday 5 March, is entitled 'Virtual Prediction: The Future of Filmmaking and VFX'.
The purpose of the discussion is to dissect the current state of virtual production and explore whether it's to become ubiquitous in filmmaking, or remain a 'luxury'. What is its practical longevity and where is it headed?
Joining Andy Williams will be Lori Furie (Sony Pictures), Steve Jelley (Dimension Studio), Josh Kerekes (Pixomondo) and Kathy Chasen-Hay (Skydance). Spark FX presents some of the most creative and innovative work in VFX for both film and television. Its mission is to foster community, ignite the imagination and highlight leading artistic and technological advancements within visual effects.
Rather than a public event in Vancouver, which is the norm for Spark FX, this year's conference will be held virtually. Other highlights in 2021 include a 40th anniversary retrospective of Raiders of the Lost Ark with visual effects veteran Richard Edlund, a celebration of Space Jam on its 25th anniversary and a host of workshops for animators, compositors and more.
