Oscars Nominations 2026: Sinners And The Lost Bus Up For Best VFX

27 January 2026

The Oscars 2026 nominations have been announced, with two Outpost projects making it through to the final five

Sinners and The Lost Bus have both made it through the nomination event to compete for the Academy Award for Best Visual Effects at the 2026 Oscars.

Outpost VFX contributed visual effects to both of the films, which join Avatar: Fire and Ash, F1 and Jurassic World: Rebirth in progressing to the final five that will be eligible for the award come the ceremony on Sunday 15 March.

Sinners, directed by Ryan Coogler, was supervised in house by Ian Fellows and featured environment extensions, gore enhancement, twinning, eye replacement and more. The film has set the record for the most Oscar nominations ever, bagging 16 nods across all major categories.

The Lost Bus was directed by regular Outpost collaborator Paul Greengrass, whom we previously worked with on Jason Bourne, 22 July and News of the World, as well as the upcoming historical epic The Uprising. The film was supervised internally by John McLaren and featured significant amounts of FX and environment work.
