Escapeverse Live 2025: Outpost VFX Goes Behind The Scenes Of Knuckles

19 February 2025

Formerly The VFX Festival, Escapeverse Live will host an exciting array of VFX and animation talks

Outpost VFX will be presenting its CG character animation work from the Paramount+ show Knuckles at Escapeverse Live, an online event formerly known as the VFX Festival.

Animation Supervisor, Oliver Dale, will take attendees behind the scenes of some epic sequences from the show in a session entitled Knuckles: Unleashing a Dynamic CG Character Performance.

The event runs online from 24-27 February, with Oliver’s Knuckles presentation landing on Wednesday 26 February from 16:30 to 17:30 GMT, including time for audience Q&A.

“Knuckles has to walk a fine line between cartoon and realism,” he explains. “His huge eyes, extreme brow shapes, wide mouth and a little black dot for a nose all mean the facial animation needed certain limitations to keep it feeling believable when rendered with fur and set in a photorealistic environment.”

Oliver brings a huge amount of insight with him to Escapeverse Live, having been fundamental to the animation success of some of the best-know CG characters from the last decade, including Groot from Guardians of the Galaxy and the animal casts of The Lion King, The Jungle Book and Dumbo.

Online tickets for Escapeverse Live are available now from the Escape Studios website.
